A large section of the 2020 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule, released on November 1^st 2019, contains updates to the Merit-Based Incentive Program for 2020 and beyond. Overall, CMS is continuing to mature the program as it begins the 4^th year of operation while finalizing framework to streamline reporting requirements in future years.

Changes to the program include increases in the threshold to avoid a penalty for the next two performance years, updates to measure inventories for each performance category and the finalization of the MIPs Value Pathways framework for 2021.
