On August 3^rd, CMS issued their proposal for the 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.  In the rule, CMS is proposing to make certain waivers and flexibilities available during the COVID-19 health emergency permanent, moving forward with changes to evaluation and management codes, and updating the Quality Payment Program for 2021.

Updates on the CMS Appropriate Use Criteria/Clinical Decision Support (AUC/CDS) program were absent from the proposed rule, indicating that CMS is moving forward with the program’s full implementation starting January 1^st, 2021 when CMS will deny claims lacking the required documentation.
