The COVID-19 federal public health emergency (PHE) declaration, which has been renewed 11 times since initially enacted in January of 2020, has been renewed once again as of January 11, 2023.
Both HHS and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) have repeatedly committed to providing a 60-day notice before allowing the PHE to finally expire. With this most recent renewal, that 60-day notice would be expected mid-February.
Since the PHE is renewed in 90-day increments, this latest extension keeps the declaration in place until mid-April of 2023.
As always, ADVOCATE will keep you up to date on this and all issues impacting medical groups as they become available.
