The COVID-19 federal public health emergency (PHE) declaration has been renewed as of October 13th, 2022. Since the PHE is renewed in 90-day increments, this extension will preserve the declaration until January 13th, 2023.

Both HHS and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) have repeatedly committed to providing a 60-day notice before allowing the PHE to finally expire. If this holds true, and should they decide not to continue to renew, the healthcare industry should expect the notice between now and mid-November.

As always, ADVOCATE will keep you up to date on this and all issues impacting medical groups as they become available.
